Kharif rice sowing area increased by 19.9%: According to Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, the area under kharif rice is increased by 19.9 percent to 11,484 thousand hectares as against 9578 thousand hectares sowed during the same period last year.
Punjab stands out among the Indian states as the one that contributes the most to the sowing of rice, with 2,534 thousand hectares. Comparing this to the 2,492 thousand hectares of sowing over the same period last year, there has been an impressive gain of 1.7%.
Uttar Pradesh, with its 2,281 thousand hectares of sown land, comes in second among the states. However, when compared to the 1,790 thousand hectares over the same period last year, this statistic shows a rise of 27.4%.
Kharif Maize sowing area increased by 34%: According to Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, the area under kharif maize is increased by 34 percent to 5,884 thousand hectares as against 4,384 thousand hectares sowed during the same period last year.
Madhya Pradesh stands out among the Indian states as the one that contributes the most to the sowing of maize, with 1,692 thousand hectares. Comparing this to the 974 thousand hectares of sowing over the same period last year, there has been an impressive gain of 74%.
Karnataka, with its 1,221 thousand hectares of sown land, comes in second among the states. However, when compared to the 685 thousand hectares over the same period last year, this statistic shows a rise of 78%.
