Russian wheat increased its presence in Vietnam’s market.

Russian wheat exports set a new record in November, when they totaled 4214 KMT, or 48% more than in November 2016. Russia increased wheat exports by 29% in the first five months of MY 2017/18, when they totaled 17.18 MMT against 13.33 MMT in the same month a year ago. Shipments of Russian wheat were stepped up to almost all of its main end markets: Egypt, Turkey, Nigeria and others. Russian exporters considerably boosted wheat supplies to Indonesia. 866 KMT of wheat was delivered to this country from Russia in the period under review. This is already two and a half times more than exported for the whole last season (344 KMT was in MY 2016/17). Russian wheat exports to India gained 77% against last season and amounted to 277 KMT. Shipments to the UAE actually reached last season’s level of 619 KMT against 626 KMT in MY 2016/17. Also, Russia is reinforcing its wheat export position in the Vietnamese market, which it entered last season. The country exported 444 KMT of wheat to Vietnam in July-November 2017/18, or three and a half times more than supplied in MY 2016/17.
