Source says 100,000 MT wheat to arrive at Indian ports by mid-Oct.

About 100,000 tn of wheat from Ukraine will arrive at Indian ports between Sep-end and mid-Oct. The grain has been contracted for $207-$210 per tn. The dealers are shipping more wheat on expectations of a further rise in the import duty in coming months. There was a speculation that the government may double the import duty on wheat from 10% currently to prop up domestic prices and encourage higher sowing in the rabi season starting October. The import of 100,000 tn wheat is over and above the deals likely to have contracted earlier this month. Earlier in the month there were talks that traders had contracted 600,000 tn of wheat from Ukraine and Russia. Wheat prices in the Black Sea region have remained weak this season because of forecast of bumper output.
