Source says 440,000 tn wheat due at Tuticorin from end-Jul to Sep.

Indian buyers have booked shipments of 440,000 tn Australian and Ukrainian wheat, which is due to arrive between the end of July and September. The shipments will arrive at the Tuticorin port in Tamil Nadu. About five vessels of new crop wheat are arriving from Ukraine in Aug-Sep and three vessels from Australia by the end of this month. Domestic importers have booked Australian wheat at $211-$230 per tn while Ukrainian wheat is priced at $211-$216, on cost-and-freight basis. These trade deals were struck earlier and, since then, prices of Ukrainian and Australian origin wheat have risen sharply to $220-$221 per tn and $270, respectively. Wheat prices in Australia have increased due to weakness in their currency and because dry weather conditions are likely to hit yield of the crop. The price rise in Ukraine can be attributed to a delay in harvesting and strong demand from Egypt.
