Prices of soybean in Indore were up due to a decline in arrivals and higher export demand for soymeal. In Indore, the benchmark market for the oilseed, prices were up 5-25 rupees at 3,300-3,350 rupees per 100 kg. Arrivals in Madhya Pradesh, the largest producer, were pegged at 47,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg) today, down 3,000 bags. Tracking gains in the spot market, the October soybean contract on NCDEX was up 1.1% at 3,269 rupees per 100 kg. However, sharp gains in prices of the oilseed are likely to be capped in the coming days because of higher new crop arrivals.
