Sugar down in north India on low demand, Maharashtra markets shut.

Prices of sugar fell in the key wholesale markets of north India today amid sluggish demand from bulk buyers. In Muzaffarnagar and Delhi, sugar sold down 5-7 rupees. People are cautious of the GST implementation and are reluctant to stock sugar. Spot markets in Maharashtra were shut today, as traders in agricultural produce marketing committees of the state went on a one-day strike to protest against the goods and service tax structure.
