Sugar price down in Maharashtra on selling pressure.

Prices of sugar continued to fall today in the key wholesale markets of Maharashtra due to increased selling pressure on mills. Mills are lowering prices as they have to liquidate stocks to make way for the rising supplies from the new season’s crop. Mills across Maharashtra have produced 326,000 tn of sugar as of Nov 15, up from 192,000 tn produced a year ago. As of Nov 15, around 137 sugar mills in the state had begun crushing operations, compared with 95 a year ago.
