Taiwan’s MFIG has issued an international tender to buy up to 130,000 tonnes of corn which can be sourced from the United States, Brazil, Argentina or South Africa. The tender will close on Wednesday, Aug. 23. MFIG seeks shipment of 40,000 to 65,000 tonnes between Oct. 11-30 if the corn is sourced from the U.S. Gulf, Brazil or Argentina. If sourced from the U.S. Pacific North West coast or South Africa, shipment is sought between Oct. 26 and Nov. 14. Offers were also sought for a second consignment of 40,000 to 65,000 tonnes from Brazil only between Nov. 2-21. MFIG made no purchase in its last reported corn tender on Aug. 9 when it sought up to 130,000 tonnes with the same shipment periods, as prices were regarded as too high.
