The Telangana government has extended maize procurement in the state by five days till 25 Jan. Although supplies have almost come to an end, the government’s decision to extend procurement was to help those farmers who did not get enough time to dry their crops. So far, the state government has purchased 292,400 tn maize and expects the figure to touch 300,000 tn for the season. The procurement started at the end of September to help farmers as market prices fell way below the minimum support price.
