Thailand rice exports seen down 9% in 2017-18, output likely to rise 6%.

Thailand’s rice exports are seen falling 9% on year to 10 mln tn in 2017-18. Rice exports may decline as the Thailand government is likely to deplete most of its rice stocks in 2016-17. Shipments from the southeast Asian country, the largest rice exporter, were at 11 mln tn in 2016-17, 11% higher on year. USDA has kept its estimates for rice production in Thailand unchanged on month in September at 20.4 mln tn, which is nearly 6% higher on year.
