Tur acreage falls 70% as farmers switch to other crops.

The sharp fall in tur prices over the last few months seems to have turned farmers away from the pulse this year. The crop had been planted over just 0.125 mln ha vs 0.421 mln ha down 70%. Farmers in Karnataka, Andhra and Gujarat are switching from tur to cotton this year, as returns from cotton were better this year. Some farmers are also seen switching to oilseeds.
