Tur rebounds to 4,000 rupees/100 kg as demand rises, acreage seen down.

Prices of tur in Akola, which had slumped to a low of 3,550-3,600 rupees per 100 kg in early June, have bounced back to 4,000 rupees due to renewed demand from dal millers and stockists. An expected drop in the area under the crop also supported prices. Bargain buying by dal millers and stockists has revived after remaining subdued for over a one month. As traders become accustomed to the new tax regime, trading in the commodity may gain pace and rates of tur are likely to rise by another 200 rupees per 100 kg in the coming weeks.
