Ukraine has completed the 2018 maize sowing, seeding 4.6 million hectares of the commodity. It said farmers had sown a total of 7.1 million hectares of spring grains or 97 percent of the expected area of 7.3 million hectares. Ukraine, the world’s third-largest grain exporter, said the area covered by spring and winter grains would exceed 14 million hectares this year. Weather forecasters said severe drought in eastern and southern regions might shrink Ukraine’s 2018 wheat harvest by 15-30 percent below original forecasts.
