USDA arm sees Colombia coffee crop a tad up on year.

Coffee production in Colombia is seen rising marginally to 14.7 mln bags (1 bag = 60 kg) during 2017-18 (Oct-Sep), up from 14.6 mln bags a year ago, due to a likely normal weather conditions and more plants reaching their productive peak. From the beginning of the replanting programme in 2012 up to date, more than 420,000 ha have been renovated, which corresponds to 45% of total Colombian coffee production area. Rise in output is also likely to push up Colombia’s coffee exports to 13.6 mln bags in 2017-18 from 13.5 mln bags last year.
