USDA arm sees Ukraine wheat output down in 2018-19.

Wheat production in Ukraine is likely to fall to 26.6 mln tn in 2018-19 from 27.0 mln tn a year ago. The estimate is based on a decline in wheat acreage this year. For 2018-19, Ukraine’s wheat acreage was at 6.4 mln ha, down from 6.7 mln a year ago. During March 2018, Ukraine witnessed weather anomalies, including snowfall and low air temperatures, which are seen aiding the yield for the winter crop. Following a lower production, wheat exports from Ukraine are also seen sliding to 16.3 mln tn in 2018-19, down from 16.5 mln tn a year ago.
