Wheat Procurement Progress Report – As of April 11, 2025

Wheat procurement for the current season commenced earlier than usual in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The total national procurement target for the year has been set at 31.2 million tonnes, with state-wise targets as follows:

  • Punjab: 12.4 million tonnes
  • Haryana: 7.5 million tonnes
  • Madhya Pradesh: 6.0 million tonnes
  • Uttar Pradesh: 3.0 million tonnes
  • Rajasthan: 2.0 million tonnes
  • Bihar: 0.2 million tonnes
  • Gujarat: 0.1 million tonnes

As of April 11, 2025, wheat procurement has shown progressive growth compared to the previous year. The total quantity procured stood at 2.376 million tonnes, which is 1.056 million tonnes higher than the corresponding figure last year.

Top Procuring States (as of April 11, 2025):

  • Madhya Pradesh – Leading all states, the state has procured 2,011.2 thousand tonnes, achieving 34% of its annual target.
  • Rajasthan – Procured 202.7 thousand tonnes, achieving 10% of its target.
  • Uttar Pradesh – Achieved 5% of its target with a procurement of 142.3 thousand tonnes.
  • Bihar – Procured 3.31 thousand tonnes, achieving 2% of its target.
  • Gujarat – Achieved 2% of its target with a procurement of 1.60 thousand tonnes.

The current trend indicates a positive trajectory in procurement operations, reflecting effective coordination and early harvesting in key producing states.
