The Union Agriculture Ministry has predicted 97.11 million tonnes of wheat production this year in its second advanced estimates, issued last month. However, the output would be over 100 million tonnes due to a consistent level of suitable conditions in every aspect for the crop. The climate has been conducive this year and pest attacks, including yellow rust, have been reported in very few pockets.
