Winter wheat planting in Kazakhstan hampered by precipitation.

Colder-than-usual weather was seen in Kazakh winter wheat growing areas on October 1-10. Night frost events down to -2-6°? occurred at the time, as well as abundant precipitation in the south and south-east. These meteorological conditions somewhat hampered planting of winter wheat in the south-east of Kazakhstan. The planting works were started in Almaty and Zhambyl regions early in the month and toward October 10, respectively. In monitored fields, winter wheat in West-Kazakhstan region is at the stage of three leaves. No damages were revealed after frost events. The state of crops is evaluated as good,
