Due to the early harvest of some kharif crops in particular areas, the government has announced an increase in minimum support prices (MSPs) of 2–7% for rabi crops. Wheat and masur (lentil), two important winter crops that are thought to have recorded lower-than-expected performance in the previous two years, have received a maximum 7% rise. The MSP of wheat, a key winter cereal, has been hiked by Rs 150 a quintal to Rs 2,275/quintal for the 2024-25 marketing season (April-March), from Rs 2,125/quintal now.
