ISMA predicts Indian Sugar production at 33.3 Million tonnes

According to the Indian Sugar and Bio-energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) first advance estimates the Indian total sugar production for the 2024-25 (October-September) at 33.3 Mln tonnes (before diversion), inclined with its preliminary estimates in July month. Current year estimates are lower than the 34.06 Mln tonnes production in last year.

According to the ISMA, higher carry forward stock of about 8.5 mt from the previous season, Indian sugar market have comfortable supply side. The sufficient sugar availability not only ensures adequate supply for Ethanol Blending Program (EBP) but also open the room for exports, contributing to maintain the financial liquidity of sugar mills, enabling timely payments to farmers.
