Unseasonal rainfall accompanied by strong winds has negatively affected sesame and mango cultivation across Gujarat. Officials from the state agriculture department reported that nearly 10% of mangoes have fallen early due to the adverse weather.
Most standing crops, especially bajri, maize, and sesame, have been damaged as farmers prepare for monsoon planting.
In Bhavnagar, APMC authorities noted that although the majority of onions were already harvested, some left in fields have suffered due to excess moisture. Around 20% of the onion crop is expected to be compromised, with quality loss likely impacting future prices.
