Kota coriander up; demand rises at lower price level.

Prices of coriander rose for the second consecutive day in Kota, Rajasthan due to a pick up in demand from spices makers at prevailing lower rates. Prices of coriander had declined in the last few days due to a rise in supply at key markets of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Canada Oct-Feb masur export down 70% at 180,700 tn

Exports of masur from Canada since the start of the season in October till February fell 69.6% on year to 180,700 tn. A 30% import duty on masur imposed by India in December, one of the largest buyers, may have led to the fall in exports from Canada. However, exports in February surged 243.6% on month to 51,200 tn. The rise in exports in February has been attributed to robust demand from China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Tur prices down in Akola, Kalaburagi on low demand.

Tur prices in Akola and Kalaburagi fell due to sluggish demand from millers. Trade has been sluggish due to lack of clarity about quantitative restrictions on sale of most pulses. Prices of most pulses have been under pressure for the past few months due to ample supply in domestic market.

Maharashtra procures around 139,915 tn tur from farmers at MSP

Maharashtra has so far procured around 139,915 tn tur from 116,245 farmers in the state at the minimum support price of 5,450 rupees per 100 kg. The Centre has approved the state to procure a maximum of 446,800 tn tur under the price support scheme to reduce price volatility in the market. Prices of tur had declined because of a spike in arrivals of the fresh crop, while demand from dal millers has been subdued.

Oilseed stocks in Russia down 3.5% on the year as of early March

Russian growers held 2120 KMT of oilseeds as of March 1, 2018 that is 77 KMT (3.5%) less than at the same time last year (2197 KMT). The oilseed stocks decreased by 453 KMT in February. Grower stocks of sunseed totaled 1215 KMT, i.e. 189 KMT (13.5%) less that at the same time last year (1404 KMT). The sunseed stocks decreased by 275 KMT in February.

Mustard seed down in Jaipur on weak demand for meal

Prices of mustard seed fell in Jaipur due to subdued demand for mustard meal and oil from domestic stockists. A surge in arrivals also put pressure on prices of mustard seed. In Rajasthan, arrivals of the oilseed were estimated at 275,000 bags.
