NCDEX coriander down on high imports, low demand

Futures contracts of coriander fell marginally on the NCDEX due to a rise in imports of the spice and subdued demand for the new crop because of higher moisture content. The most-active April contract of coriander was down 0.6%.

NCDEX soybean hits 2-week low on subdued demand

Futures contracts of soybean hit a two-week low of 3,539 rupees per 100 kg due to subdued demand from oil millers. The most-active February contract was down 1.5% from the previous close. In the past few days, soybean prices rose more than that expected in the spot market and therefore, now there is some selling pressure. Weakness in the soybean contracts on the CBOT is also seen weighing on prices.

Malaysia CPO rises on bargain buys post 2-week low

The April futures contract of crude palm oil on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended over 1% higher due to bargain buying after prices hit a two-week low of 2,445 ringgits per tn earlier. The most-active April contract of crude palm oil on the Malaysian bourse settled at 2,493 ringgits (40,955.24 rupees) per tn, up 1.1% from the previous close. Gains in soyoil contracts on CBOT also supported crude palm oil prices on the Malaysian bourse.

Mustard seed prices fall in Jaipur on low demand

Prices of mustard seed fell in Jaipur due to low demand from oil millers. However, mustard futures rose on concerns over forecast of cloudy weather in key growing areas of Rajasthan. Cloudy weather may hit growth of the oilseed crop, making it vulnerable to pests and lower yield. The most-active April contract was 4,172 rupees per 100 kg, up 0.9% from the previous close.

Market Expert cuts India 2017-18 soybean crop estimate to 8 mln tn

Soybean output estimate in India for 2017-18 (Jul-Jun) has been revised downward to 8.0 mln tn currently from the previous estimate of 8.5 mln tn. Several indicators showed that actual supply of soybean is lower than thought of before in India. This is also reflected in some recent appreciation in domestic prices. The crop is also way lower than last year’s production of 10.5 mln tn. Argentina, the world’s third largest grower, is constantly facing dry weather conditions, which may take a toll on the soybean crop from the beginning.

Futures contracts of coriander fell over 1% on NCDEX due to profit booking. The most-active April contract of coriander on NCDEX was down 1.4% from the previous close. Prices are volatile ahead of start of new crop arrivals in full swing.
