Coriander prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital in view of increased buying by retailers and stockists amid low stocks. fall in supplies from producing belts and firming trend in futures market also supported the upside.

NCDEX coriander up over 2% on short covering.

Futures contracts of coriander on the NCDEX rose over 2% as investors covered their short positions after prices fell to a three-week low of 4,711 rupees per 100 kg on previous close. On the NCDEX, the July contract was at 4,907 rupees per 100 kg, up 2.5% from the previous close. In Baran, a key wholesale market, the Badami variety was sold for 5,125 rupees per 100 kg, while the Eagle variety was sold at 5,375 rupees, both unchanged from previous close. Supply in Rajasthan was steady at 4,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg).

Futures contracts of coriander on NCDEX rose 2% as investors covered their short positions after prices fell to a three-week low of 4,711 rupees per 100 kg in early trade. On NCDEX, the July contract was at 4,835 rupees per 100 kg, up 1.6% from previous close. In Kota, the Badami variety was sold for 5,600-5,800 rupees per 100 kg, while prices of the Eagle variety were at 5,800-6,000 rupees, both unchanged from previous close. Arrivals in Rajasthan was pegged at 4,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg).

Futures contracts of coriander on the NCDEX were down nearly 2% because of weak demand from domestic retailers. The July contract was at 4,828 rupees per 100 kg on the NCDEX, down 1.6% from the previous close. Trade in the spot market of Kota was subdued, as participation was low following a three-day strike by traders, who were protesting the implementation of the goods and services tax. In Kota, the Badami variety was sold for 5,600-5,800 rupees per 100 kg, while prices of the Eagle variety were at 5,800-6,000 rupees, both unchanged from previous close. Supply in the benchmark market Kota was also steady at 1,200 bags (1 bag = 40 kg).

Futures contracts of coriander on the NCDEX were down over 1% as investors continued to book profits for the third straight day, after prices hit a four-week high of 5,310 rupees per 100 kg. A 510-tonne decline in open interest in the July contract to 22,190 tonne indicated profit booking. The July contract was at 4,958 rupees per 100 kg on the NCDEX, down 1.5% from the previous close. Prices at spot markets in Rajasthan were unavailable today as the market was shut due to a strike called by traders to protest the implementation of the goods and services tax.

Futures contracts of coriander on the NCDEX were down 2% as investors continued to book profits for the second day after prices hit a four-week high of 5,310 rupees per 100 kg. A 2,180-tn decline in open interest in the July contract to 24,220 tonne indicated profit booking. The July contract was at 5,050 rupees per 100 kg on the NCDEX, down 2% from the previous close. Prices at spot markets in Rajasthan were unavailable today, as the market was shut due to a strike called by traders to protest the implementation of the goods and services tax.
