Prices of coriander fell in Ramganj, in Rajasthan, on talks of cheap imports of the spice from Ukraine, Russia and Bulgaria. In Ramganj, the Badami variety of and Eagle variety coriander both down 100 rupees from previous close. Arrivals were unchanged at 8,000 bags (1 bag=40kg).

Coriander prices rise in Kota as arrivals halve.

The prices of coriander rose in Kota, the benchmark market in Rajasthan, as arrivals halved to 2,000 bags (1bag=40kg). Prices of coriander also increased on expectations of lower output in 2016-17 (Oct-Sep). Traders have pegged India coriander output this year at 9 million bags, compared with 10 million bags a year ago. In Kota, the Badami variety of coriander and the Eagle variety both sold up 100 rupees from previous close.

NCDEX coriander hits 3% lower cap on subdued demand.

Futures contracts of coriander hit their 3% lower circuit on the NCDEX today because of subdued demand from domestic consumers. A 2,420-tn decline in open interest in the May contract indicated short covering. The most active May contract on the NCDEX traded up 0.2% from the previous close.

NCDEX coriander hits 4% lower circuit on weak demand.

Futures contracts of coriander on the NCDEX hit their 4% lower circuit due to lack of demand from Stuckists. On the NCDEX, the most active May contract was down 2.9%. A rise in inventories at exchange warehouses also weighed on prices. Exchange-designated warehouses had 16,599 tonne of coriander, compared with 16,271 tonne on previous close. In Ramganj, a key market in Rajasthan, the Badami and Eagle variety of coriander was sold down 100-150 rupees from the previous close. Arrivals in Ramganj were pegged at 40,000 bags (1bag=40kg) unchanged from the previous day.

Indian coriander prices start decline on low export demand.

Indian coriander prices start decline on low export demand, currently Indian coriander offered at USD1200 per MT, facing stiff resistance from Russian & Romania coriander which was traded at USD 500 per tonne. This make lower export down by 21% YOY. Moreover, domestic arrival preasure also weigh on prices. Domestic prices at a level of Rs.6000-6300 per 100 kg would bring India back to export market.

Coriander contracts rise for the fourth consecutive week and hit a 10-week high on the NCDEX due to strong demand from domestic and overseas markets for the new crop. Arrivals at Kota were pegged at 8,000 bags (1bag=40kg), up 2,000 bags. On the NCDEX, the most-active April contract was up 1.3%.
