NCDEX Jul coriander up as supply down in Rajasthan.
July coriander futures on the NCDEX were up because of a decline in supply in Rajasthan markets, as farmers brought less produce due to rainfall in the state. The most-active July contract was at 4,900 rupees per 100 kg, up 0.3% from the previous settlement. Supply in Rajasthan was 4,500 bags (1bag=40kg), down 2,500 bags from the previous day. In Ramganj, a key wholesale market, the Badami variety was sold at 5,900 rupees per 100 kg, while the Eagle variety was quoted at 6,100 rupees, both unchanged from previous day.
All-India cotton arrivals down at 22,200 bales.
Around 22,200 bales (1bale=170kg) of cotton arrived in major spot markets across the country on Wednesday, lower than 22,800 bales on previous close.
Thailand rice trading highest.
Japan International prices of rice are on rise, with Thai rice trading at highest in about three years amid growing demand from Iran. Export prices of grade-A Thai white rice came to $492 a ton in mid-June, up 10% from a month earlier and the highest since August 2014. A big buyer is Iran, which has returned to the international markets after its landmark nuclear deal with six world powers. The Iranian government and corporate buyers in the country got their hands on 40,000 tons to 50,000 tons of jasmine rice and grade-B white rice recently. Thailand rice exporters are eagerly securing supplies for shipment to Iran. Appreciation in the Thai baht is lifting international prices as well.
Sri Lanka in talks to import rice from three countries.
Sri Lanka has opened immediate talks with three countries (Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand) to procure a rice tranche to stabilize its domestic markets. Sri Lanka are looking for par-boiled (Nadu) and Samba categories at this moment and can start with 300,000 MT.
India rice price Unchanged.
Prices of rice were largely unchanged, with the 1121 sella basmati rice sold at 5,800 rupees per 100 kg in Delhi and the 1121 steam non-basmati variety priced at 6,500 rupees in Taraori, Haryana.
Ukraine increased corn exports two and a half times in May.
Ukraine exported 2654 KMT of corn in May 2017 that is up 36% from April 2017 (1946 KMT) and two and a half times more than in May 2016 (1002 KMT). Ukrainian exporters shipped abroad 18.186 MMT of corn for just nine months of the current season, up 19% from MY 2015/16.
India Maize prices rise on lower arrivals.
Prices of maize in the key wholesale market of Purnea in Bihar rose due to a fall in arrivals of the crop. The coarse grain was sold up 20 rupees from previous close. Arrivals have fallen as stocks with farmers are depleting and recent rains in the region have hit transportation of the crop to markets. Farmers brought around 700 tonne of maize, lower than 1,000 tonnes on previous close. July maize contract on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange was up 0.5% from the previous close.
Dairy body to buy 3,675 tonnes maize via e-auction.
The National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India buy 3,675 tonnes maize through a reverse electronic auction. The commodity, used as cattle feed, be bought on behalf of the Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation. The National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India, which has nearly 200 dairy cooperatives as members, has developed an online trading platform to purchase feed stock and sell dairy products.
U.S. wheat fell 0.5 percent.
U.S. wheat fell 0.5 percent to extend two-day losses to nearly 2.5 percent, as traders paused a run of recent gains to assess damage from recent unfavorable weather across the United States and Europe. The most active wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade fell 0.5 percent to $4.62-1/4 a bushel, having closed down 1.7 percent on previous close.
Japan bought 135,747 tonnes of food-quality wheat.
Japan Ministry of Agriculture bought a total of 135,747 tonnes of food-quality wheat from the United States, Canada and Australia in a regular tender. From U.S. Western White 24,561 tonnes, Hard Red Winter (semi hard) 9,690 tonnes, Dark Northern Spring 35,710 tonnes (protein minimum 14.0 percent), Canada Western Red Spring 31,106 tonnes (protein minimum 13.5 percent) and from Australia Standard White (West Australia) 34,680 tonnes wheat import.
Bulgaria prices for new-crop wheat increased $2-3 followed the global trends.
Last week Bulgaria old-crop grain market featured downward price trends. In view of sluggish sales towards the season end, purchase prices for all the staple grains are falling in the domestic market. In the new-crop market, forward wheat prices gain on average $2-3 a week due to global trends, reaching $181-184/MT FOB for 12% protein wheat, August-September delivery. At the same time, no revival is yet observed in sales of new-crop grain.
India wheat Price Unchanged.
Futures of wheat, however, traded largely flat during the day and the July wheat contract on NCDEX settled at 1,615 rupees per 100 kg, unchanged from the previous settlement. Prices of wheat in spot markets were also unchanged due to steady demand and supply.
