NCDEX soybean dn ahead of monsoon onset, firm rupees

Soybean contracts on the NCDEX fell ahead of the onset of monsoon and firmness in the rupee against the dollar. The most active June contract was down 1.4%. Earlier-than-expected arrival of monsoon in Kerala has raised hope sowing of the oilseed will be higher in the country. According to India Meteorological Department, monsoon may advance to parts of Kerala in the next 24 hours. The likelihood of acreage under the oilseed rising is seen bearish for prices. Higher arrivals of the oilseed are also seen weighing on prices.

NCDEX mustard seed down over 1% on profit booking

Futures contracts of mustard seed fell over 1% on the NCDEX as traders booked profit. The most active June contract was at 3,969 rupees per 100 kg, down 1.24%. A rise in stocks of the oilseed at exchange-accredited warehouses also weighed on the contracts.

Kota coriander prices down on muted domestic demand

Coriander prices fell in Kota, Rajasthan, due to subdued demand from stockists and domestic spices makers. In Kota, the benchmark market for the commodity, the badami variety was sold at 4,750 rupees per 100 kg and the eagle variety was quoted at 5,000 rupees per 100 kg, both down 100 rupees. Good carryover stocks and higher cheaper imports have resulted in lower demand for the domestic crop. Arrivals of coriander, however, were almost steady in Rajasthan. The most active June contract of coriander on NCDEX ended 0.2% lower.
