Sugar mills in up have delayed cane crushing as they are sitting on large stock of molasses. At the beginning of the month, mills were carrying around 10 million litre molasses stock with them posing a problem of storage as the new crushing season result in more addition to the existing inventory.

Soybean in Indore down as arrivals rise

Soybean prices in Indore, Madhya Pradesh were down as arrivals of the oilseed in the state rose. Expectations of rise in the arrivals in the coming days are also seen weighing on the sentiment. The most active November soybean contract was slightly up 5 rupees from the previous close.

MMTC to auction 1,633.5 metric tonne urad via NCDEX e-markets

MMTC to offer 1,633.5 metric tonne of urad imported from Myanmar and 393 metric tonne of tur imported from Malawi, for auction through NCDEX e-markets. The pulses which are to be auctioned are stocked at the Central Warehousing Corp, and other godowns in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

Farm secretary says late rains may boost rabi sowing

Late rains in different parts of the country are likely to boost sowing of rabi crops. The country’s rabi production may also surpass last year’s level. India had produced 137.2 million metric tonne food grain in rabi season in 2016-17(Jul-Jun). However, late rains might have caused minor damages to kharif sown crops, which the government had factored in its first advance estimate. Farmers in the country are likely to harvest 134.67 million metric tonne of kharif food grain in the current crop year, down from a record 138.52 million metric tonne harvested in 2016-17.

ICE cuts maintenance margin requirement for sugar 11

The ICE has reduced the maintenance margin requirement for sugar 11 contract by $168. For member, customer omnibus and hedge accounts, initial and maintenance margin requirements are $952, respectively. For all other customer accounts, the initial margin requirement is $1,064, while the maintenance margin required is $952.

Sugar Futures Advance on Bullish Brazil Report

Sugar futures rose, buoyed by a supportive report from Brazil cane crush industry. Raw sugar futures for March delivery climbed 2.9% to settle at 14.28 cents a pound on the ICE Futures U.S. exchange. Brazilian sugar mills in the country’s center-south region produced slightly less sugar than expected in the first half of October, due to lower prices and wet weather during the period.
